A/Prof Russell Hogg


Gynaecologic Oncologist

 Associate Professor Hogg is a Gynaecologic Oncologist whose roles include assessment, treatment and follow-up of women with suspected or proven gynaecologic malignancy, clinical research and teaching.  As a surgical oncologist serving a very large area, he relies on high quality ultrasound assessment to triage patients for pelvic tumours to local treatment or tertiary level surgical and oncological care.  He has a keen interest in improving the precision and accuracy of ultrasound reports.

Associate Professor Hogg’s clinical areas of interest include minimal access surgery with sentinel node biopsy for endometrial cancer and the biology and treatment of low grade ovarian cancer, which affects younger women.  He has a leading role in the Sydney Adventist Hospital and Royal North Shore Multidisciplinary Teams and in teaching medical students, registrars and subspecialty Fellows.  A/Prof Hogg is the co-chair of the Gynaecologic Cancer Network within the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation and a member of the International Ovarian Cancer Benchmarking Partnership committee.  He is one of the lead clinicians for the INOVATe Ovarian Cancer study investigating molecular profiling in the management of women with ovarian cancer.
